In January 2010, the Galaxy Group of Companies began construction of a new annexe block as part of its expansion plans to the present building at the Global Business & Convention Centre.Along with this new 6-storey annexe block is the new Galaxy Group of Companies Showroom.

The brainchild of the Group Chairman & Group Managing Director, Dato' Thomas Khung Fanen DPTJ, JP, the new showroom covers an impressive total floor space of 7,000 square feet and is strategically located at the third floor. The new state-of-the-art showroom now acts as the centre stage for all products and solutions listed under the Galaxy Group of Companies. It also serves as an ideal platform for the Galaxy Group of Companies visiting guest, clients and prospects, whereby all latest products and innovative solution of the Group can be viewed comprehensively and conveniently under one roof.

Professionally equipped with the latest product technologies and display solutions, the new showroom is also aesthetically pleasing to the eye with a reception area, a presentation area, refreshment and discussions area, complete with a grand water feature flowing at the centre of the room.

The bi-annual IPMEX 2011 was once again held successfully at the Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from the 4th to 7th August, 2011.

The Galaxy Automation Sdn Bhd team in keeping with its annual promotional efforts targeting to both the Malaysian and international markets, had participated at the exhibition which featured International Printing, Paper and Packaging Machineries. This year, our associate company Innoteam Sdn Bhd also took the opportunity to join us in offering a top-notch range of post-press finishing solutions.

Held over a period of four days from Thursday to Sunday, the team had received a varied range of crowd throughout, from officers of government departments and universities, to private operators and print-shop entrepreneurs. Statistics gathered by our team also showed a healthy mix of visitors from central Kuala Lumpur and nationwide states, including those from East Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.

With On-Demand Digital Printing and Print-Finishing being all the rage now, most visitors to IPMEX 2011 were keen and eager to catch a ride on this big wave of change. The range of products and solutions offered at Galaxy Automation caters to just that.

The RISO ComColor series continue to capture visitors’ attention with its affordable high-speed, full-color printing costs, and its flexibility in offering on-demand, no-minimum-run, full-color printing on ready-made envelopes, Transpromo, and Mid Volume Transactional Outputs (MVTO). Able to accept most paper types in cut-sheet form, the ComColor continues to amaze the current batch of Black & White copy-printers and Offset print-providers with its Color-The-Black solutions.

Equipped with the Thompson T-100 Envelope Feeder, the ComColor proves that it can seamlessly churn out personalized envelopes, straight from the computer to the printer.
Our business partner Pitney Bowes, the professionals in Mailing Solutions, also partnered with the ComColor in producing personalized mailers and envelopes using the ComColor’s Variable-Data-Print (VDP) solutions and its OfficeRight™ DI380 Inserting System. 

The Fastbind range of Print-Finishing Solutions by Maping Co. proved to be another crowd-puller at the exhibition. Comprising a series of easy-to-maneuver, semi-automatic equipments, the Fastbind series enables users to easily publish photobooks, memory-books and binded-copies in both Soft and Hard Covers on their own. Coupled with Fastbind’s range of high-quality finishing materials; leather covers and beautiful end-sheets, visitors to the Galaxy Automation booth were awe-inspired by the ease and simplicity in creating on-demand books. 
Visitors keen on establishing their own photobooks businesses were also introduced to the Dg Foto Enterprize Solution by PXL Soft. A user-friendly Digital Album Creation Software, it offers a one-stop package whereby it is all that you need to set-up your Online Photobook Business.

To complement the rising demand in digital booklet-making, the Galaxy Automation team also showcased the NAGEL Bookletmaking line. A combination of three separate units, the Nagel Robofeeder, the Nagel Foldnak Compact, and the Nagel SP Plus, the bookletmaking line takes print outputs from multiple presses, feed them in through the Robofeeder, staples and folds them into books through the Compact, and finally square presses the booklet spine in the SP Plus to give it the look of a high-quality perfect binding finishing.
Along NAGEL’s line of solutions, we also brought in the Nagel Citoborma 490 heavy-duty paper drilling machine. This easy-to-use machine with up to 6 drill heads comes with a wide range of standard functions.

The IFLA International Newspaper Conference 2011 was held successfully from the 25th to 27th of April, 2011 at the National Library, Kuala Lumpur.

Paperworld is the leading international trade fair for paper, office supplies and stationery. Held annually in Frankfurt, Germany, this is a trade fair that offers great insights into the latest trends and markets of the future.

With 1,890 exhibitors from 71 countries and over 51,000 trade visitors from over 169 nations, Paperworld 2011 provided the perfect platform to gain inspiration from the variety of products on show and also for the exchange of ideas and opinions with manufacturers and experts.

Mr Yee Pengwai, Executive Director of Galaxy Automation and Mr Alvin Khung Shyangwee, Marketing Director of Media Lite took the opportunity during the show to visit the exhibition booths of our existing principals such as the Elcoman Srl (Kobra) booth, Maping Co. (Fastbind), Ideal Krug & Priester, Uchida Yoko Co., Ltd., Qingdao SPC Co., Ltd., Ernst Nagel GmbH, as well as establishing new contacts with potential new product manufacturers at the same time.

The exhibition also featured special shows with interesting activities, awards ceremonies, and a Paperworld forum with lectures from professional speakers.

Hot from the excitement and success of our Digital Full-Color Printing & On-Demand Finishing Solutions exhibition at the Print Technology 2010 trade show held at the Putra World Trade Center, Kuala Lumpur in August 2010, the Galaxy Automation team continued its reach nationwide with extended roadshows at various main cities in the Peninsular Malaysia to cater to prospects and clients in the various states.

In the months of October to December 2010, the Galaxy Team brought our Roadshow team to the main pulses in each region of the country, i.e. Perak, Penang, Kuala Terengganu, Johor Bahru, and Batu Pahat. Held in prime venues in each of the Northern, East Coast and Southern regions, guests and prospects were able to see and discuss on our range of products and solutions firsthand at a closer and more personalized manner.

The Galaxy Team received positive feedback from a high turn out of visitors from government departments, universities, colleges, and design print shops. Guests were showcased the ComColor Digital Printer range, and were especially receptive to the ComColor applications with special focus on lower cost of color printing, on-demand four-color envelopes printing, and variable data printing (VDP).
